Abstract
This paper presents a novel ontological view based semantic transformation method to address the semantic heterogeneity design issue of open distributed information systems. After carefully reviewing the traditional ontology definition in the close environment, this work extended this concept to ontological view to represent the partial knowledge about same business domain in an open environment where common ontology does not exist or explicitly represented. Based on the definition of ontological view, solutions in mathematical formulation and corresponding application algorithms are proposed. The solution enables the ontological views about being transformed from one to another automatically by dealing with structural constant heterogeneity and predicate heterogeneity respectively.
