Abstract
Continued debate on the privatization initiatives within the Canada's healthcare system has brought the much needed focus on sustainability issues and emerging challenges faced by this domain. Predicaments that merely deal with public or private health service paradox should not derail efforts on healthcare sustainability. Applying an appropriate framework is fundamental for ensuring success to healthcare sustainability initiatives. This would not only assist in better understanding such challenges but would also pave the way for deploying manageable solutions. This paper highlights such challenges and provides a holistic perspective on how sustainability's core components can be properly addressed in healthcare through a conceptual framework. The primary objective of a successful healthcare system improvement is not merely to justify the current rate of spending but to take in to account various facets of sustainability. The following discussion also highlights how sustainability can be leveraged to solve challenges that have a greater consequence with long term impact on healthcare.
