Biography
Dipti Srinivasan obtained her M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1991 and 1994 respectively. She worked at the University of California at Berkeley’s Computer Science Division as a postdoctoral researcher from 1994 to 1995. In June 1995, she joined the faculty of the Electrical & Computer Engineering department at the National University of Singapore, where she is an Associate Professor. From 1998-1999 she was a Visiting Faculty in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India.
Her main areas of interest are neural networks, evolutionary computation, intelligent multi-agent systems, and application of computational intelligence techniques to engineering optimization, planning and control problems. Her research has focused on the development of hybrid neural network architectures, learning methods and their practical applications for large complex engineered systems, such as the electric power system and urban transportation systems. These systems are examined in various projects by applying multidisciplinary methods that are able to cope with the problems of imprecision, learning, uncertainty and optimization, when concrete models are constructed.
At the ECE department of National University of Singapore, she has been teaching courses in the areas of computational intelligence, introduction to electrical engineering, and power & energy systems. She was the winner of NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Award in year 2007, 2008 and 2009.
Dipti is a senior member of IEEE, and a member of IES, Singapore. She is currently serving as the Chair of IEEE Women in Computational Intelligence (WCI) committee. She is the immediate past chair of the IEEE Power Engineering Chapter, Singapore, member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Chapter, and a member of the Intelligent Transportation System technical committee.
She is currently an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, Area Editor of International Journal of Uncertainty, Fuzziness and Knowledge-based Systems, and Managing Editor of Neurocomputing journal.
