My name is Luis Alberto Rivera and I am from Guatemala.

I graduated in Electronics Engineering from Del Valle University, Guatemala, in 2006. I worked for the Mathematics and Physics departments at Del Valle from 2007 to 2009. I was granted a Fulbright scholarship, and I received the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri in 2011. I am currently a Ph.D student at the University of Missouri, working at the Vision-Guided and Intelligent Robotics Lab. My research interests are in the areas of machine learning and pattern recognition applied to Robotic Assistive Technology. I have worked on systems and interfaces for controlling assistive technology devices such as power wheelchairs, using surface EMG signals, head motion, speech, etc. I have also worked on methods for detecting patterns in mixed signals, with applications in terahertz and assistive technology.

Take a look at my research and publications.
